Who Listens?
Who Listens? will explore a side of AI that is becoming increasingly common but is still rarely discussed: the use of conversational AI for reassurance, advice and emotional support. The project will work with adults to look at why people turn to AI in difficult or uncertain moments, what they get from these conversations, and where the limits and risks may lie. Rather than telling people not to use AI, the project will help them use it with greater awareness. Through practical resources, real-life scenarios and community-based pilots, participants will explore issues such as simulated empathy, privacy, emotional dependency and knowing when human or professional support is more appropriate.
